Eligibility for Membership

Persons eligible for membership of the Association shall be those in the field of healthcare security categorized as follows:

a) Senior Member

Individuals employees in a hospital, by a group of hospitals, including private or military hospitals, in the NHS Trust or by any other Healthcare facility with full-time administrative responsibility for security and who devote at least 50% of their attention to security matters during their working hours.

b) Associate Member

Individuals employed in a hospital, including private or military hospitals, in a NHS Trust or by any other Healthcare facility who:

• Are responsible for security of the hospital(s) or facility but who occupy a status in the organisational structure above that of the individual who qualifies as a senior member; or
• Are full-time managers in the security service for the hospital(s) but who occupy a position in the organisational structure below that of the individual who qualifies as a Senior Member.

c) Affiliate Member

• Individuals who are senior members or associate members who have severed their association with a hospital or healthcare facility and who do not meet the criteria for any other category of membership.
• An academic with a full-time teaching appointment at college or university who has the sponsorship of a senior member.

d) General Member

Individuals who are management personnel employed to provide security services to hospitals on a contractual basis on behalf of a company that is other than a hospital or group of hospitals.
Individuals who engage in selling or providing security supplies or equipment to hospitals.

e) Group Rate

Group rates will be available for organisations having 3 or more members working at the same location who qualify as members in category (a) or (b) above.
